HAPPY MEDIUM?

I wish that happy medium would come back into fashion, on monday we still had to have a radiator on for a while in the morning to prevent frostbite with our weetabix! On Tuesday it's so hot no one can sleep and it's unbearable!!!!!! Caravan life continues to be a challenge but by no means impossible.

Well the builders left today at 2pm and we won't see them until 2 weeks time they are on hols and starting another job, the guest bed and ensuite that needs to be built out of brick, and not part of the timber frame, sometimes gets referred to as the extension????, but that is what it's going to feel like when /if it ever gets built  -watch this space!

They have finished the gable end on the left side of the house, but the one on the right is still not complete.

Philip and Pete have finished the snug roof and the kitchen roof over the last 2 days, working in the blazing sun!, and Philip came up with a solution to the balcony roof problem, we are still waiting to here from the surveyor from the fiberglass company- so that will need chasing next week.  They have also measured the holes for the windows and the downstairs windows are on order- yipee!!!! I am off on Wednesday TO CHOOSE THE PAINT .....................

We had a load of plastics delivered this week , guttering, downpipes etc, Pete had done his old bizzar in Cairo bit to get a good price, 20 mins after it was delivered onto the drive a guy cold calling fell over it to come in and give us his card, promising to beat any quote on plastics- typical!!!

Pete has started painting and spraying the soffit boards.

We have adopted this piece for the Hall, hopefully it will lighten with a good sand and then can be modernised with a new painted top.

We have found and won on ebay a sink for the boys bathroom , it has holes for 3 taps  , anyone off to HAMPSHIRE in the next couple of weeks and can give it a ride home let me know!!!!
ps. it's 6 foot!

The inspiration for the above picture.

RSVP

Dinner, Disco, Darts, just do't bother inviting me because my evenings are fully booked far into the future- we have had 360 meters of soffit boards delivered and these require painting- probably more than once knowing Pete!!!!!

I took this photo on Sunday lunch time, hopefully the planners won't spot the difference if they compare it to the plans!

THE BUILDERS DOING THE GABLE END TODAY DURING A DRY SPELL!

A CLOSE UP, YOU MAY JUST BE ABLE TO JUST SEE THE ATTIC TRUSSES THAT WILL MAKE UO THE WALLS AND CEILING OF THE ATTIC, WHERE PETE IS GONNA HAVE HIS BACHELOR PAD!!!, HE'S EVEN GOT THE BUILDERS TO DO MAKE THE CHIMNEYS  SO THAT WILL ALLOW FOR  A LOG BURNER UP THERE IN THE FUTURE ,- CAN YOU IMAGINE 3 TEENAGE LADS THEIR MATES AND A LOG BURNER?????-DISASTER

THEY HAVE TILED THIS SIDE OF THE ENSUITE ROOF TODAY, IT TOOK A WHILE TO GET THE LATHS ON RIGHT WHERE THE DIFFERENT ROOFS JOIN.

The house is still getting wet in places so it will be good to see it get more water tight over the next few days, Pete and I have been out to look at the balcony, he said that he needed me to make some desisions- it was a lie I had to help come up with solutions???!!! ( now that does make me woried!) it is to do with the floor levels between the balcony and the bedroom, but he has had a look at the quotes we got some months ago and he will arrange for a surveyor to come out from the company he wants to lay the balcony floor.

We have took delivery of more blocks, the blues and the soffits and more insulation so the site is looking full again!

interior design update 2 - I have now taken up getting furniture from local skips, - I did ask permission first I will post pictures (not of me in the skip!)

I came home from school today in the worst hail shower only to see one of the brickies wearing my favourite army jacket from my college days (yes Philip - you know the one!) Pete said later, Karls got a jacket like you, "NO THAT WAS MY JACKET!!!!!!!!"- I don't think I should leave my washing out.

Walkies!!!

Here are the pictures of the roof that I took whislt walking the dogs this morning, today Pete and Dave have been finishing putting the tile laths on the front of the roof. We have had another dump of sand delivered and have had to order yet more blocks (1200) and we are now fighting off people offering us blue brick seconds and have ordered 4000. We have been looking at millions of chimney designs on Google images (we really need to get out more), we already have the chimney pots we got them from the last house we renovated in Willington.

Interior design update-- Pete went to Bamfords to get the Ercol daybed which will eventually take pride of place on the verhandah  -it is so cool, very happy!

here's one I made earlier.......................

With all the talk about the roof, I thought I would just give an update on the progress of the green roof on the garden room, which I can now see from the first floor of the house!, My first post had a picture of the green roof when I had just planted it.

TILE LATHS AND FELT ADDED TO THE BACK OF THE HOUSE TODAY.

TAKEN ON SUNDAY.

With regards to the materials, we need some more second blue bricks for the chimneys (which we also need to design!) but no-one had any of last week, so we will need to keep ringing round this week and next,  A Magnet trade rep called today, which was useful because we had already been adviced that they have the best price for plaster board, Pete had a quick trip to B+Q on sunday to take advantage of the 20% off day we save loads of pennies on bags of cement but the suspsnsion in the Sharran will cost loads to fix!!!!!!!!

WONKY BANDAIDS

A little bird told me that some people reguarly check my blog to see if I have updated, and as posts have been few and far between lately, here are just a few shots I took from the egg ladies road last week,
yesterday before he went to work on a twilight Pete felted and tile lathed a huge section on the front of the house (so if you left A+E with your band aid stuck on badly last night it was probably because he'd done a full days work before he got there!), and also added a few tiles so we could see what they looked like... they are the same as the garage but double in size which we had to have because of the pitch of the roof .

Philip is joining the team for a few days this week so things on the roof should progress quite quickly.... watch this space.

GOOD NIGHT CRAIG, DO SLEEP WELL!
