WE'VE GOT THE BUILDERS IN.............................

AND WE'RE HAVING AN EXTENSION!.............

BUT!, they are still juggling jobs and it seems that the other bloke can shout alot louder, so watch this space because I think Pete will build it himself whilst they are not looking!

Pete has now built the chimney himself and the pots will probably go on next week!  We are really pleased with it, we used blue bricks as we have not used any red bricks within the rest of the build.

During the wet weather they have been putting the silver membrane and the plasterboard leths on the upstairs external walls.

inspiration!
We spent hours last night with bits of wood and paper and pencils deciding on the lay out of the utility and laundry, at one point the dogs were sleeping on top of the freezer, but we are now pleased with the plans we have come up with, Pete thought the laundry was just a laundry, "oh no" its going to be all greys and moody blues a real french vintage feel,-he has come around to my way of thinking now (how wise!) and added a shelf for vintage tat! -his words not mine!

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND..............................

.......................................FOR TWO DAYS ONLY,

Ken and Ken have been back they have finished the front of the house and have made a good start on the chimney, unfortuantley they now seem to be juggling jobs and we won't see them until the middle of next week.

Pete has been been busy welding some metal beams for the part of the house that is
"not an extension".

and in the rain showers he has been inside, getting the upsairs rooms ready for plaster board.

We have been to frame Fast this morning and ordered our bi -fold doors for the kitchen and family room, they should take about 6 weeks, We have got the paint made up for the cladding at the back of the house and we will order the wood so we can start to Paint it inside the house.
I have made a start on the Parquet flooring its quite an easy job, its just the amount of it that is daunting!
Now the builders are back and finished the front  we can measure the holes and order some more windows.

I have taken a trip to my favourite fabric shop and got some more curtain fabric - and spent yesterday evening photographing and measuring all that I have so I can really start to think about the interiors of the rooms. ( I know it seems premature but I want to be really organised, also I do think you loose a bit of energy and enthusiasm at the end of the project)

Yipee!!! I won this sink on Ebay I really wanted one for the utility room, and now we get a day out to doncaster as well!!!!!

Romeo has sent the samples for the flat roof on the balcony, I don't think we will use "mud" or "moss" and go for the one I'm calling "British Summer Grey" instead, in the textured finish.

ROMEO, ROMEO WHEREFORE ART THOU ROMEO?

.........finally Pete got in touch with the balcony chap, we can't get a date because it all depends on the weather- the fibre glass cannot be laid in the rain (how is that company still in buisness???) and we are in a queue of people waiting so we just have to be patient!!!!
THE FIRST OF THE VELUX WINDOWS HAS BEEN PUT IN TODAY, IT LOOKS OK FOR SUCH A MODERN PIECE , SHAME WE COULDN'T GET A NICE RECLAIMED VICTORIAN ONE!

HEALTH AND SAFETY!!!!?????

THE BACHELOR PAD!!!, I HAVE BEEN UP THE LADDER THIS EVENING-  IT MAKES MY SPACE (THE SNUG) LOOK LIKE A MATCHBOX!

HALLELUJAH!!

WE HAVE FINALLY DECIDED WHAT COLOURS WE ARE USING FOR THE EXTERIOR!

LITTLE GREENE PAINT COMPANY- FRENCH GREY AND CITRINE
CUPRINOL SHADES DUSKY GEM.

THE SINK HAS BEEN MOVED UP TO THE LOADING BAY AND PETE HAS REINFORCED THE WALL THAT IT WILL NEED TO HANG OF SO WE DON'T HAVE TO BUILD A UNIT FOR IT TO GO ON.

WE HAVE BEEN SPENDING THE EVENINGS DOING ROOM LAYOUTS FOR THE ELECTRIC AND PLUMBING PLANS THIS WEEK, AND WE HAD A LOOK AT THE VERHANDAH ROOF AND REALISED THAT THE BALCONY WALL WOULD NEED TO BE BUILT UP A COUPLE MORE BLOCKS. WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR THE LOCAL REP TO CONTACT US AGAIN ABOUT THE FIBREGLASS FLOOR WITH A DATE.

DURING THE WET WEATHER LAST WEEK THEY WERE PUTTING ALL THE WOOD NOGGINGS( I'M NOT SURE IF THIS IS THE TECHNICAL TERM!) IN TO HOLD THE PLASTER BOARDS. SCAFFOLDING HAS ALSO B EEN PUT UP FOR THE EXTENSION,

...............................ITS NOT AN EXTENSION............................

WE HAVE HAD A CHAP COME AND GIVE US A QUOTE FOR RENDERING THE HOUSE, WE HOPE TO SEE THE BRICKLAYERS BACK THIS WEEK.

SADLY THE SCAFFOLDING WAS NOT QUITE HIGH ENOUGH FOR US TO VIEW THE DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL THIS WEEKEND.

I SUGGESTED GETTING A LOAD OF RECLAIMED INTERNAL DOORS FOR THE HOUSE THAT I'D SEEN ON EBAY, PETE WAS NOT IN AGREEMENT , SAID IT WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE TO GET THEM TO FIT IN THE STANDARD DOOR FRAMES,- IMPOSSIBLE-  EVER SINCE HE MENDED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ON OUR KOMBI 12 YEARS AGO IN THE AUSSIE OUTBACK, WITH A COAT HANGER  I REFUSE TO BELIEVE ANYTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!

"Catch the pidgeon......"

Before we know it they will be presenting the next series of "spring Watch" from the inside of the house, Pidgeons have started roosting overnight and at least two other bird species have been spotted flying in and out.

The boys bathroom sink arrived on saturday from Hampsire by courier ( we used anyvan.com) and we are really pleased with it, at the moment its blocking the drive, luckily the loading bay is outside the bathroom window so it wont be impossible to get it in the house it'.s 6 foot long and weighs 112kg!

this is what I am looking for now to go in the Utility room.

Pete finished tiling the front of the roof on Friday!
All through the really hot weather Pete and dave continued to work on finishing the tiling, and putting up the soffits and guttering, they also filled in the trench from the rainwater harvester into the garden.

Romeo and Juliet- The man came from fibre glass company to assess the balcony roof , and that should be done in the  next couple of  weeks.

A chap is coming on wednesday to give us a quote for cement rendering the large wall of the house, it will be a huge job for Pete and also who ever comes to help labour for him , so we still need to decide about the rendering.

We have ordered the windows and also found  a company to supply the cedar cladding, .....we are just off into the garden to have a look at the paint samples we have done for the painted cladding.

...............Then its accounts we are a couple of days late with organising them - I blame the queen and all the partying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
