MARATHON....................

.............................SPRAYING ALL THE WINDOWS IS PROVING TO BE A BIT OF A MARATHON BUT AT LEAST WE HAVE PETE ON THE CASE AND NOT PAULA!- HE HAS ACTUALLY STARTED!

PETE WAS SPRAYING UNTIL 10 pm ON THE FIRST DAY, BUT THERE HAD BEEN SOME HICCUPS WITH THE SPRAY GUN

UNDERCOAT COMPLETED

TOP COAT DONE! IT TOOK 3 DAYS TO DO ALL THREE COATS, AND ONLY A THIRD OF THE WINDOWS HAVE BEEN SPRAYED SO FAR- YOU DO THE MATH!

PETE HAS PUT IN THREE OF THE FRAMES TODAY, HE WON'T PUT ANY OPENERS IN UNTIL THE RENDERING HAS BEEN DONE.

WANTED!...a good home for a pair of covent garden style french doors, We had a phone call today and Marvic have made a **** up with the frame for the doors and it is easier for them to make 2 new doors for the frame than make a new frame, so we now have more french doors than France!

The rest of  the order is being delivered on Monday, and Pete has also ordered the cedar cladding, we now need to start looking at colours for the masonary paint, again Little Greene looks quite competitive in the price war and so there will be a great choice of colours,  it does feel strange though to be doing the finishing touches on the outside with still over a year of the build left, don't want it getting all dirty, but there is no choice because it has to be done whilst the scaffolding is up.
I am getting on slow but steady with painting the cladding, Mary and her carpet bag  (aka grannie) turned up and played with the boys which was a great help, the done and to be done piles now look similar in size.

HANGING AROUND!

UPSTAIRS LOOKS LIKE SOME BIZARRE ART GALLEREY WITH ALL THESE FRAMES JUST HANGING, AND GENTLY SWAYING IN THE BREEZE.

EVERY WINDOW AND PIECE OF BEADING HAS BEEN CAREFULLY LABELLED, PETE PLANS TO START SPRAYING TOMORROW.

WINDOW IN ON THE BALCONY AND LATHS READY FOR THE CLADDING.

I HAVE BEEN GETTING ON WITH THE PAINTING, BUT THIS IS THE STACK THAT I STILL HAVE TO PAINT!, IVE WORKED OUT THAT IT WILL TAKE 18 OF REUBENS DAYTIME NAPS TO GET THEM FINISHED.

I TOOK THE FRONT DOOR TO MARVIC IN MOIRA TODAY, SO THAT THEY CAN DO THE FRAME FOR IT (AND THE COVENT GARDEN DOORS FOR THE HALL/ PORCH), PETE MADE THE FRONT DOOR LAST AUTUMN, BASED ON THE MAGAZINE CUTOUT BELOW. THE REMAINING WINDOWS AND DOOR FRAMES FROM MARVIC WILL BE DELIVERED NEXT WEEK.

PETE SPOKE TO JAY THE RENDERER TODAY AND HE SHOULD BE HERE SOMETIME NEXT WEEK TO START THE JOB.

FIFTY SHADES OF GREY!................

No I haven't read the book!!! (no time), but we have started painting ( definately no time now!!)..........

Utility door frame made by Marvic Joinery, we are using the original front door from the bungalow here.

I have started painting the cladding today.

Pete has put the window in the hallway he made this one himself.

Pete is hanging all the windows for spraying, these are the ones he made for the window in the vaulted ceiling in the kitchen.

lounge window to the left of the fire place

the Aluminiun Bi Fold doors for the kitchen and the family room arrived yesterday and Pete and Dave have got the frame in the Family room .

and the frame and the doors in the kitchen, they have had to take out some of the scaffolding poles and replace them to fit the doors, so WE CAN'T OPEN THE DOORS NOW- just in case you come round and try and give it a go - you will smack the door on the scaffolding pole!!!!!!!!

obviously the doors are covered in a black protective tape,...

but I am  trying not to have a wobble about the "shade of grey" on the doors, it is a really good match for the french grey on the wooden windows but it is so pale it lookes white, I am sure that when all the tape is off and the room is painted white and the grey windows are in they will look grey and not white .

I was away last week with the lads! but the build was still on my mind I took this snap at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, it gives an idea of what our windows will look like with the cedar cladding.

Next week Pete and Dave should get the doors in the bi-folders in the family room, Pete is going to start spraying the windows in earnest and I will keep on with the cladding, a big surprise the windows on the last part of the order have been made and are now ready for delivery,

"I like to ride my Bicycle"- Whist taking a stroll back from the cousins this morning and in between the two houses I was treated to two cyclists opinions on our build, (cyclists always shout to each other!!) you heard it here first our house is obscene, come on guys we all know size does matter!

HOME AND DRY!...................

..............................WELL NEARLY, BOTH THE TWO SMALL ROOFS ARE NOW FELTED AND PETE AND DAVE HAVE STARTED TO TILE THE EXTENSION TODAY, I THINK THEY ARE PUTTING OFF THE PORCH ROOF- EVERY SINGLE TILE WILL NEED TO BE CUT!

WE PLAN ON LEAVING THE THE CEILING HEIGHT AS IT IS ALTHOUGH THE BEAMS ARE NOT BIG ENOUGH TO SHOW THROUGH.

SO DESPITE THE OLYMPICS BEING ON ( THANK GOODNESS FOR RADIO 5!) THINGS ARE STILL MOVING ON NICELY!
