OOOOOOPS!

We didn't give the design of this window enough thought the wood is too chunky

hopefully it will look better when the wall is plastered and painted !

Pete and dave have been busy glazing and painting the windows, it is a long job there are still about 15 windows to glaze and all of the doors!

they have hinged them to the timber frame to make them easier to paint

Long John Mark came over last week and helped Pete to clad the extension, and then they started  the skeiling in the loft which Pete and Dave finished this week.

the back of the house does look like a patchwork quilt but I am confident that the verhandah roof and eventually the verhandah will bring it all together, the verhandah design has changed and will exted around to the snug and have a part without a roof and this will have a built in herb bed, and the end of it that meets the ground will be finished with a planted wall , off of Gardeners world this year- If its good enough for chelsea it will do for me!

PAINTING GOES ON AND ON AND ON AND............................

But both the front and the back have had final coats just leaving the two side walls and the porch to have final coats.
we have been looking at Keim Paints for the cills they are heavily textured and will make the cills look like they are stone.

here we are out and about looking at kitchens !

a mixture of this blue and white is a posibility

or something like this for the Island unit- yes I am being dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century, I think this will look lovely covered in dog hairs and jammy finger prints!!!

I know its a bit early but we actuallg bought some floor tiles the other day - well they were only £20 for the lot in the bargain corner of tradePoint, and we were not sure what size to do the guest en suite - now we do!!!!!!!

SLAKED LIME MID (149) AND FRIENDS

PAM AND DAVE WENT OVER TO ASHBOURNE THIS MORNING TO COLLECT THE PAINT ORDER FOR US!

PETE HAS FINISHED THE TILING THE PORCH ROOF!- ITS A TRIUMPH

WE CONTINUED WITH THE MASONRY PAINTING TODAY, TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE DRY WEATHER.

HERE IS THE FRONT OF THE HOUSE WITH THE FIRST COAT OF THE FINISHED COLOUR- AND I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER IT IS JUST WHAT I WANTED- IT WAS WORTH ALL THE EFFORT IN CHOOSING THE RIGHT SHADE

MORE OF THE CLADDING IS GOING ON AROUND THE BACK OF THE HOUSE.

SLOWLY BUT SURLEY ITS ALL GOING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION, PETE HAS ODRDERED EVERYTHING FOR GLAZING THE WINDOWS THE PAINTED CLADDING IS GETTING A SECOND COAT OF STAIN AS IT GOES ON THE ARCHES ARE NEARY DRY ENOUGH FOR A FIRST COAT OF PAINT AND WE ARE LOOKING AT PAINT OPTIONS FOR THE CILLS, INSIDE THE REST OF THE RADIATORS HAVE BEEN DELIVERED AND THE WARMCELL INSULATION HAS BEEN BOOKED FOR NOVEMBER.

DEATH BY RADIATOR!!!!!

TRADEPOINT SENT PETE A TEXT INFORMING HIM THAT THEY HAD 1/3 OFF ALL RADIATORS, IT TOOK NEARLY ALL DAY TO WORK OUT WHAT SIZES WE NEEDED FOR EACH ROOM AND A COUPLE OF HOURS AT THE STORE SHIFTING RADIATORS AROUND AND ORDERING THOSE THAT WERE OUT OF STOCK! IT WAS ALL BTU THIS AND BTU THAT, ME TO YOU BTU ( I'VE GONE QUITE MAD WITH IT ALL!)
after all that we did have time to call in at Magnet to see what all the fuss is about, they keep ringing us and pratically begging us to buy one of their kitchens, 50% off free sink free tap it goes on and on, I think we will keep holding out until we get a holiday to the seychelles and a speedboat thrown in!- did make us think about wether to have what we have had in the past or to go ultra modern??????

Pete has started to tile the round roof, apparently it was impossible to wear both the safety glasses and the mask so he choose to save his lungs and go blind instead

Dave has carried on painting the first coat of masonary paint.
The quote war is on with the Little greene paint order, Pete tried to get Johnsons to match it (they should have gone to spec savers) and I was a good girl and did bring home some sandtex testers but the coulour was no where near as good as the first colour we choose. (it was all a bit like dress shopping!!)

The White House

The 1st coat of masonary has gone on some of the walls, the debate about the top coat colour is still ongoing - you cant rush these things ( you cant give in either.

and the cladding cintinues to go on around the back.

the ridge tiles have gone on the extension
Pete has rendered his arches, apparently until today he had been doing it all wrong for years sorry if this causes you concern!!!!!

CHILD LABOUR 3!
We have all been trying to clear the site today and clearing all the rubble at the front and using it to build the floor where the verhandah will go, we have had to make some desisions about the design of the verhandah this week.

There will be a retaining wall under the floor and the floor will cantilever on the wall and then have a timber face like this picture.
We will have a really nice hardwood floor.
with timber posts and a low timber rails like this picture shows!
