I was only out of the county for about two hours and they got up to all sorts of dangerous, edge of your seat stuff, there was still lots of action to snap when got back, and it wasn't viewing for the faint hearted!!!!! ( I'm definately going to be having lots of flashbacks and nightmares, maybe some involuntary shouting as well in the middle of the night!!) the hole for the rain water harvester was massive the photos really don't do it justice.
They managed to get to the right depth with the digger, and then made load after load of concrete to fill the dumper which they then got right on the edge of the hole (I'm feeling queasy writing about it!!!!) and tipped it in. Chains were concreted in and then the two parts of the tank were put together -like a huge clam, and then sealed together and lowered on to the concrete. Whilst I was out on the school run, my line prop, that they used as part of the lifting equipment (it's all very professional here!!!!!) snapped and ended in the tank so Pete had to be lowered in the tank to fetch it ( I'm feeling all funny again....!). This evening we have had to fill 1/3 with water so that it settles into the hole. Next it needs the pump putting in and pipes connected and the sides need in filling with gravel...................
ALL THIS SO WE CAN FLUSH THE BOG WITH WATER FROM THE ROOF,............................................ there must be easier ways to save the planet!
